Dead Cert trailer & Gorbals vampire documentary.

Lets start with this tonight... A feature being run by the BBC on the Gorbals Vampire from Glasgow.

Back in 1954, two policemen were called to a disturbance at a Glasgow cemetery. They discovered hundreds of children searching for a vampire with iron teeth.

American comics were blamed for the panic but, according to a documentary on BBC Radio 4, there were other sources for the Gorbals vampire. Pauline McLean reports.

The Gorbals Vampire will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at 2300 GMT on Tuesday 30 March, and will be available on BBC iPlayer

Gabrielle Faust has spotted another short clip from Season III of true blood.

Staying with True Blood, Vampire Cafe spotted this interview with the Vampire King of Mississippi, Denis O'hare.

BloodyDisgusting has the unofficial trailer and artwork for "Dead Cert" here.

Shocktilyoudrop has news of Daybreakers arriving on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 1st.

Is there hope? Could it be that more feel this way? I had to share this, a 14 year old's realisation that vampires didnt start with twilight and sparkles.

There is a spoiler that there is another big death on the way in Vampire Diaries here.

  1. Hey Everlost,

Just read the article on The Gorbals Vampire. Wow! Sounds very similar to The Highgate Vampire though it came 20yrs beforehand.

Funny that this was used as an excuse to ban/censor horror comics (which I also read in primary school in the 80s CREEPY etc), but with the Highgate Vampire, which was clearly inspired by Hammer Horror and Dracula, it never eventuated in any censorship, just Farrant going to jail and Manchester becoming a minor (notorious) celebrity.

I have read Manchester's books THE HIGHGATE VAMPIRE, and I found it interesting (I had been to Highgate Cemetery knowing about the legend but before I read the book) and with haunting cemeteries like Highgate and this sprawling Southern Necropolis of Glasgow it's easy to see how such stories can be conceived, Highgate is such a lush cemetery!

Anyways thanks for this: I am going to watch/listen for this broadcast, hopefully it's saved on their site for later viewing if you miss it?

Lastly, what do you think of the whole Highgate Vampire thing, of course you can emial me your thoughts privately if you don't want to discuss it here...
